Today marks the beginning of Black History Month. This month is dedicated to learning about and reflecting on Black history, and celebrating Black leaders, creators, inventors, athletes, entertainers, and activists who shaped the world we know today. Books are one of the best ways to remember Black history. Below is a small list of children’s books about Black history.

Some of these books have lots of words and it’s hard for children between 0 to 6 years to engage with long stories. We have lots of tips to help making reading fun for your child here.

Most of these books can be found on YouTube or at your local library. You can also purchase many of them at Knowledge Bookstore in Brampton.
