Client Bill of Rights and Responsibilities
At BridgeWay Family Centre all clients have the following rights:
- To receive friendly and respectful service
- My children/family and I expect to receive friendly and respectful services from everyone at BridgeWay, including employees, volunteers, and other participants.
- To experience a clean and safe environment for all children and families
- It’s important to have a physical space and environment, indoors and outdoors, that feels safe and clean for children and adults
- To be accepted across all identities
- All the identities of my children/family and I: cultural, racial, religious, languages spoken, my gender, family structure and all other identities, are accepted and valued at BridgeWay
- To be treated with care
- My children/family and I will be treated with care by all employees and volunteers
- Being in a space that is free from bullying, harassment and violence
- My children/family and I have the right to not be bullied or harassed by anyone
- No violence is permitted by anyone at BridgeWay
- Being in a space that is free from oppression which means free from racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and others
- BridgeWay takes all of these oppressions and oppressive behaviours seriously, and BridgeWay strives to keep all spaces free from these oppressions
- My children/family and I have the right to not experience oppression while participating in programs at BridgeWay
At BridgeWay Family Centre all clients have the following responsibilities:
- To treat everyone (employees, management, children, caregivers, and families) in a friendly and respectful way
- My children/family and I will be friendly and respectful to everyone we are in contact with while at BridgeWay
- To accept everyone from all backgrounds and identities
- My children/family and I will accept and welcome other clients and participants from all backgrounds and identities
- To treat everyone with care
- My children/family and I will treat employees and other clients and participants in BridgeWay programs with the care that we expect to receive
- To not bully, harass or behave violently towards anyone
- My children/family and I agree to not bully or harass anyone including employees, volunteers, and other BridgeWay clients/participants
- To not behave in ways that are oppressive to others (employees, management, children, caregivers, and families) such as being racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, and other ways. This includes verbal remarks and non-verbal behaviours.
- My children/family and I will not behave in oppressive ways towards anyone. This includes employees, volunteers, and other BridgeWay clients/participants
