Pendle Fund Recognizes BridgeWay with $20,000 Grant
July 8, 2019
We are excited to announce that we have received a $20,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Mississauga Pendle Fund! We are so grateful for this incredible financial support, which will fund a social worker for our Healthy Start project.
Did you know that a mother’s health and wellbeing during pregnancy affects a child’s development throughout their lifetime? A pregnant mother’s physical health and stress levels have a direct impact not only on a baby’s prenatal development, but on their physical health after birth, their mental development, and their success in school. Mothers with less access to support and resources are at a higher risk of delivering low-birthweight babies.
That’s where a Healthy Start social worker comes in. Access to a social worker during pregnancy gives pregnant and new moms the resources and support they need to keep themselves and their growing babies healthy.
