Happy Grandparents Day

Sunday September 10th is National Grandparents Day! At BridgeWay, we love to see grandparents play and bond with their grandchildren at our centres.

Here’s a story from a grandparent that comes to our EarlyON programs:

“EarlyON has been such a blessing for me and my granddaughter who immigrated to Canada a year ago from USA. I have been bringing her regularly to the Centre and the outdoor program… I love the team… everyone is extremely inclusive and supportive. [Staff] let me potty train my granddaughter at the centre without diapers in the early days of her training (this meant a lot for our family). A couple of months ago we had Urdu time and my granddaughter learned a lot of poems in her native language. [EarlyON] took part in EID celebrations which was wonderful. A lot of newcomers who didn’t have family in Canada got to join in the fun party with henna and food and met people from their own culture. In my opinion [EarlyON] is the best facility provided by the lovely people who make Canada the BEST country in the world. I met so many amazing families at the centre and we bonded while the kids played. [EarlyON] is just not a place for the kids, I would say it’s a place where parents, grandparents and caregivers can bond, share their experiences of raising kids and get advice from the wonderful staff. I don’t even have words to describe what the centre means to us and want to take this opportunity to thank each and every person involved in running of this amazing organization.” – EarlyON Client

Just For Dads

Parenting a new baby is challenging; full of highs and lows. It can feel even harder if you or your partner are struggling with Postpartum Mood Disorder (PPMD). 1 in 5 women and 1 in 10 men will experience PPMD after the birth or adoption of their baby. Getting support is important.

Join Patrick Mahoney BScN, RN. at Just For Dads, taking place this fall.

In this workshop, dads will:

  • learn about the signs and symptoms of PPMD,
  • discuss what it means to experience PPMD,
  • talk about ways to support their partner experiencing PPMD,
  • explore resources available to men and women, and
  • discuss ways to manage parenting a new child.
